Captain Crunch has kicked off the 2024 sales season in style with his progeny, either outright or jointly topping both the APG Gold Coast Yearling Sale and the Nutrien Tasmanian Sale over the weekend.

At the APG Gold Coast Sale on Sunday, a superb colt out of Our Sweet Melody (making him a half-brother to the multiple Group 1 winner Jewel Melody), sold for an impressive $90,000.

Offered by Michael Taylorʻs Trotters Australia, the colt, who hails from the same maternal family as star siblings Leap To Fame and Swayzee, was purchased by Wayne Loader.

While at the Nutrien Tasmanian Sale on Friday, it was a filly out of the stakes placed mare Huiffier that shared the top honours, selling for $35,000.

It hasnʻt just been in the sales ring either that the progeny of Captain Crunch has come out on top, with the son of Captaintreacherous also siring a number of impressive 2-year-old trial winners from his first crop on both sides of the Tasman in the past month.
