Voukefalas, a first crop North American bred son of Lazarus, was an impressive winner of the $230,000 Graduate Series Final for 4YO Pacers at The Meadowlands yesterday.

The Michael Russo trained stallion began well from barrier six, and briefly took the lead going past the quarter pole before the race favourite Ken Hanover re-claimed it through the next quarter.

In the trail through the middle fractions, Voukefalas was angled out at the top of the straight and showed a terrific turn foot when given clear air to quickly take the lead and then fend off the challengers to score by three-quarters of a length in a career best time of 1:47.6.

The two-time New Jersey Sires Stakes champion has now won 11 races and banked $733,010 in stakes earnings.

Bred and raced by Michael Pagonas, Voukefalas is out of the Cams Fortune mare Inittowinafortune.
