Strong seasonal debut from star Captain Crunch colt

Captain Crunchʻs Breeders Crown winning son Gem Quality kicked off his North American 3-year-old campaign in style over the weekend, comfortably taking out a Pennsylvania All-Stars division at Pocono Downs at Mohegan Pennsylvania.

The Chris Ryder trained and Dexter Dunn driven colt, sat in fourth spot through the majority of the trip before surging to the lead past the three-quarter pole and crossing the line one and three-quarter lengths clear of his nearest rival, another son of Captain Crunch, Timeisonmyside.

Gem Quality has now won five of his nine starts to date and banked $463,258 in stakes earnings.

He is out of the stakes performed Bettorʻs Delight mare Twinkle.
