Son of Father Patrick makes it back-to-back Harness Million wins
The Matthew White trained Paramount Kiwi was once again too good for his rivals in the Listed NZB Standardbred Harness Million 3YO Trotters Final at Alexandra Park on Friday night, comfortably taking out the $75,000 feature.
Having already claimed the 2YO Harness Million Final back in October at Addington, Paramount Kiwi made relatively light work of the win and despite briefly being blocked for a run at the top of the straight was able to sprint home strongly when the gaps opened up to score by three-quarters of a length from the multiple stakes placed filly Princess Sadie.
It was the son of Father Patrickʻs fifth win from just six starts and took his earnings to $120,551.
Bred by Studholme Bloodstock and Graham Gimblett, Paramount Kiwi is out of the Sundon mare Paramount Star and is a half-brother to six winners, including the three-time New Zealand Age Group Male Trotter of the Year Paramount Geegee.
His sire Father Patrick is currently New Zealandʻs leading sire of 3-year-old trotters and also heads up the 2-year-old trotting sires table.
