Son of Andover Hall takes out Breeders Crown Silver Trot
The regally bred Andover Hall gelding Rave On Hall was an impressive winner of the Group 3 Breeders Crown 3YO Silver Trot at Geelong on August 27, after racing without cover for the majority of the 2,100m trip.
The Yabby Dam Farms trotter never found cover off the gate from his wide draw, eventually pushing forward to sit parked outside the leader with just under a mile to go. Taking control of the race in the back straight the final time Rave On Hall had them covered in the straight, scoring by 3.2m from stable-mate Norquay.
It was the lightly raced gelding’s second race-day win.
Beautifully bred, Rave On Hall is the third foal of the Pegasus Spur broodmare gem Pretty Peggy Sue, making him a half sibling to the Group 1 winners Kinvara Sue and Pretty Majestic. Pretty Peggy Sue herself is also a half to a Group 1 winner in Master Maori, while her grand dam is the former Dullard Cup winner Maoris Glory.
Rave On Hall’s victory in the Silver Trot capped off a successful Breeders Crown Series for Andover Hall, adding to his three Group 1 place-getters from Finals night at Melton on Saturday.
The Russell Jack trained dual Group 1 winning 2-year-old Jaxnme was runner-up in the 2YO Trotting Fillies Final, whilst Andover Sun and Is That A Bid filled second and third spot behind kiwi star Ultimate Stride in the 2YO Colts and Geldings Final.
Andover Hall looks a shoe in to finish the Australian season as the country’s leading sire of 2-year-old trotters, with the season ending this week and the stallion having a buffer of over $135,000 on his nearest rival.
