Grand Teton storms home in $225,000 Tattersalls Pace
The Jimmy Takter trained A Rocknroll Dance colt Grand Teton produced a powerful late finish to down last start Little Brown Jug runner-up Dorsoduro Hanover in the second of the $225,000 Tattersalls Pace divisions at The Red Mile on October 7.
At the back of the field for much of the race, while the leaders set a hot pace up front, Grand Teton bided his time before sweeping home down the middle of the straight in the closing stages to nab Dorsoduro Hanover and score by a half length in a lifetime best 1:48.2.
It was the colt's eighth career win and took his overall earnings to $454,152.
It was a deserved Grand Circuit win for the son of A Rocknroll Dance after a string of recent big race placings, including in the Cane Pace, Bluegrass Stakes and Kentucky Sire Stakes Championship Final.
Bred and raced by Diamond Creek Farm, Grand Teton is out of the stakes race placed Western Hanover mare Western Montana, making him a half brother to the three-time Dan Patch Award winning mare Pure Country.
