Father Patrick colt sublime in seasonal debut
The three-year-old Father Patrick colt Greenshoe was ultra impressive in his season opener at The Meadowlands on Saturday (NZ time), with the exciting youngster taking out his New Jersey Sires Stakes (NJSS) division in devastating fashion.
Looking a much more finished product this time in, last year’s NJSS champion bided his time mid-field before blowing on by the pace-making Sheena’s Boy in the straight, on route to a three and a half length victory in a stunning 1:51.4 mile rate – the second equal fastest time for a trot race to date in 2019. There was a further seven lengths back to the third placed Battenberg. (Watch replay)
The win was the son of Father Patrick’s third from five starts, taking his stakes earnings to $89,223.
Greenshoe is the first foal out of the $600,000+ earning Donato Hanover mare Designed To Be.
The remaining NJSS division contested that evening was also taken out by a son of Father Patrick, with the Ake Svanstedt trained gelding Soul Strong a one length winner in a time of 1:53.
