Diamond Creek Farm has announced that Creatine has been retired from stud duties.

Creatine has struggled over a number of seasons with issues that affected his ability in the breeding shed, and on advice from industry professionals and with his welfare in mind, Diamond Creek has decided that it is best to retire him.

An outstanding racehorse, Creatine won over $2 million in stakes and was a Grand Circuit winner at every age from two through to five. His major wins included the Kentucky Futurity, Breeders Crown and Allerage Farm Trot, along with two European Group 1 races.

In North America his best progeny was the 2021 US Trotter of the Year and US 3YO Trotting Colt of the Year Jujubee, the only 3-year-old trotting colt to date to have recorded multiple sub 1:50 wins, while he also left the likes of the multiple stakes winner and $895,000 earner Take All Comers and the talented current season 3-year-old Hung Over, the winner of over $400,000 and placed last weekend in the Kentucky Sires Stakes Championship Final behind Zweig Memorial winner Dame Good Time and Hambletonian winner Karl.

Since standing his debut season in the Southern Hemisphere at Nevele R in 2017, Creatine has made his presence felt in the stallion ranks and has forged a terrific record to date down-under with 8.3% stakes winners to runners and an impressive 71.2% winners to starters.

He has produced 14 stakes horses from just three crops of racing age (5,4 and 2-years-of age in 2024), 10 at Group 1 level, including the 2023 Victoria Trotters Oaks winner Shes Ruby Roo, fellow Australian Group 1 winner More Wanted and the New Zealand bred stakes winners Walkinonsunshine, Southern Diamond, Faith In Manchester and Virginia Clowers.

In 2023, Creatine was the runner-up on the NZ 4YO Trotting Sires Table with his oldest crop (behind only Love You) and a top four sire of 3YO trotters.

The previous season saw him finish runner-up on both the NZ 2YO and 3YO Trotting Sires Premierships.

With his biggest New Zealand crop currently only yearlings, Creatine will continue to make his mark for a number of seasons yet.

Nevele Rʻs current New Zealand frozen semen stocks for him will be the last available to breeders down-under.

His fee this season is NZ$3,500 + GST, with multiple mare discounts applying.
