Back-to-back stakes wins for son of Always B Miki
The Robert and Jenna Dunn trained Dalton Shard is in career best form at the moment, with the 4-year-old son of Always B Miki taking out the Group 3 New Brighton Cup at Addington on Friday night, a fortnight after also claiming the Group 3 Maurice Holmes Vase.
Safely away from the stand, Dalton Shard found himself three back on the running rail for the majority of the 2600m trip before sprinting home the best in the straight to score by a half neck from stablemate Charlie Brown.
It was his ninth win and took his earnings to $176,799.
Bred by Mark and Debbie Smith, Dalton Shard is out of the Christian Cullen mare All Time Glory, a half sister to the undefeated Group 1 winner New Age Man.
Across the Tasman, it was a good night for the progeny of Always B Miki on Saturday with Always Hot, Kingman and Go Miki all wining their Vicbred Super Series Semi Finals at Melton, while last start Queensland Oaks winner Aardie B Miki resumed with a career best 1:53.1 win at Albion Park.
