The in-form Creatine mare Virginia Clowers is enjoying a terrific season to date in Australia, with her latest victory coming in the Group 3 Menangle Trotters Cup on Saturday night.

Up against a handy field, Virginia Clowers began well from her 10m handicap, settling mid field before leading the running line up with 1200m to run.

At the leaders wheel at the 600m mark, she was in front by the top of the straight and trotted strongly to the line to hold out the fast finishing Leaf Stride by a half head.

It was her sixth win from just eight race-day starts this year, with the Brent Lilley trained 4-year-old having also won the Listed Matriarch Trot at Melton back in June.

Stakes performed in New Zealand as a 3-year-old, Virginia Clowers has now won 10 races and $117,328 in stakes earnings.

Bred by Sandra, John, Les and Tony Mounce, she is out of the Sundon mare Gina, making her a half sibling to fellow $100,000+ earners Clifton Clowers and Time In A Bottle.

Diamond Creek Farm recently announced Creatineʻs retirement from stud duties and Nevele Rʻs current New Zealand frozen semen stocks for him will be the last available to Southern Hemisphere breeders.
