Always B Miki siblings take out stakes races on the same card
The Group 1 winner Aardieʻs Express and her younger sibling Aardie B Miki achieved the rare feat of both winning stakes races at the same meeting at Albion Park on Saturday night.
First up was Aardie B Miki, the runner-up in the Group 2 Southern Oaks earlier in the year and stakes placed in her Australian debut a fortnight ago.
Now trained by Chantal Turpin, Aardie B Miki showed terrific gate speed in the Listed South East Oaks to blaze to the lead from the outside of the front row.
Once in front she dictated the terms and was too good for her rivals at the finish, winning by 3.5m in a career best mile rate of 1:54.9 for the 2138m trip.
Three races later, Aardieʻs Express also led throughout, to take out the Group 3 Fleur De Lil Ladyship Stakes.
Tested in the straight by fellow former kiwi Manhattan, who came off her back, Aardieʻs Express dug deep to score by a half neck.
It was her 17th win from just 24 starts and took her earnings to $377,984.
Both horses are by Always B Miki and are out of the well performed Rocknroll Hanover mare Tatijana Bromac.
