A Rocknroll Dance filly too good in Breeders Crown Final
The Craig Cross trained No Win No Feed caused a minor upset in the $200,000 Group 1 Woodlands Stud Breeders Crown 3YO Fillies Final at Tabcorp Park Melton on Saturday evening, upstaging her more fancied rivals with a typically tough performance.
Sent forward off the gate, No Win No Feed took the lead early before handing up to the second favourite Miss Streisand. No Win No Feed was able to retake the lead in the back straight, when the pace-maker drifted off the marker pegs, and from there on was too strong for her rivals, crossing the line 3.5m clear of Northern Oaks winner Best Western and six-time Group 1 winner Princess Tiffany.
It was the third Group 1 win of the season for the talented daughter of A Rocknroll Dance, with the filly having previously picked up feature wins in the Bathurst Gold Bracelet and the NSW Breeders Challenge Final.
The filly is now the winner of six races and $284,460 in stakes money.
With earnings of $260,200 in 2018/19 alone, No Win No Feed finishes the season as the richest 3-year-old filly in Australia and the second highest earning 3-year-old overall behind only the colt Max Delight.
Bred by Reg and Denise Walsh, No Win No Feed is out of the winning Art Major mare Designer Rose.
It was a good weekend across the Tasman for A Rocknroll Dance, with another talented 3-year-old by him, Whereyabinboppin, taking out the $20,000 Evolution Series Final in a swift 1:52.7 at Menangle on Saturday night.
It was the gelding’s fifth win from eight starts.
