The Mark Purdon and Grant Payne trained Ohoka Dallas has impressed in his two starts to date this season with his latest outing resulting in a win in the Group 3 Mountain River Processors Ltd Methven Cup at Mt Harding Racecourse on Sunday afternoon.

A last start second in the Hannon Memorial, the 6yo Falcon Seelster gelding stepped away cleanly from his 20m mark before settling midfield in the 3,000m feature. A move into the one-one then enabled the gelding to launch his run with 400m to go, claiming the lead by the 250m and running out the winner from last season's Taylor Mile victor Second Wind by one and a half lengths.

It was Ohoka Dallas's 11th career win, taking his earnings to $265,422.

Bred by the late Dave Carville and his wife Katie, Ohoka Dallas is the second live foal of Soky's Atom mare Gina Lisa, a daughter of former top open class mare Gina Rosa, the winner of three Group One races and more than $400,000 in stakes-money.
